Miss Universe 1993 Dayanara Torres left the Philippines, Tuesday, February 7, on a flight going to Los Angeles. The former beauty queen was in tears as she was interviewed by the press people in the airport.
Dayanara expressed utmost gratitude to the Filipino people who showered her with support and love when she came back to the country to serve as judge for the 65th Miss Universe pageant.
“Thank you guys so much. So much love, it’s hard to leave you, I’m definitely coming back, bring the kids, and spend more time here where I feel so at home,” Dayanara told the reporters.
She is now handled by Genesis Talent Management, headed by Angeli Pangilinan Valenciano, Gary Valenciano’s wife.
She promised that she would do more projects here. She even hinted that she would love to work with heartthrob Piolo Pascual, who she described as “super cute”.
Her first visit was in 1994 when she passed her crown to then Miss India and Miss Universe 1994 Sushmita Sen. From then on, she has called the Philippines her second home.
After her reign, she became part of the local showbiz industry.
She was paired with top leading men of that time, including Cesar Montano, Aga Muhlach, and Robin Padilla. Among his leading men, it was with Aga that she formed a real-life relationship.
Aside from being an actress, Dayanara or Yari was also a superbly talented dancer. She was included as one of the hosts of ASAP in its early years, together with Pops Fernandez, Ariel Rivera, and Martin Nievera.
