The Penguins are taking on the Columbus Blue Jackets in Game 2 of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal playoff series Friday at PPG Paints Arena. They lead the series, 1-0, after a 3-1 victory in Game 1 Wednesday. Below are live updates and reaction to the game as it unfolds.
7:25 p.m.: The Penguins strike first despite generating almost no offensive zone time in the early going. Blue Jackets goalie Sergei Bobrovsky misplayed the puck behind the Columbus net, and winger Conor Sheary stole the puck from him. Sheary flipped the puck to the front of the net, where winger Jake Guentzel kicked the it over to Sidney Crosby. Crosby then buried a shot in a wide-open net at 8:31 of the first period. It’s 1-0 Penguins.
