Further proving his dominance in the PBA, reigning three-time Most Valuable Player June Mar Fajardo won his fifth Best Player of the Conference award Friday at the Big Dome prior to Game 4 of the 2017 Philippine Cup Finals.

Capturing his fourth straight All-Filipino BPC plum, Fajardo has tied former San Miguel legend and mentor Danny Ildefonso for most BPC awards in PBA history.

The Kraken was the obvious choice to win the award, beating out Globalport's Terrence Romeo. Fajardo finished with 1217 total points (485 from stats, 471 from the media, 111 from player votes, and 150 from the PBA). Romeo ended up with 711 points for second place.

Arwind Santos, Calvin Abueva, and Alex Cabagnot completed the top 5.

Fajardo averaged an incredible 19.4 points, 15.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 2.4 blocks in the Philippine Cup, leading the Beermen to a 10-1 record in the elimination round before taking care of Rain or Shine and TNT in the playoffs to make a third straight Finals.

San Miguel's 6'11" center has now matched his former mentor's feat of winning five BPC awards.

Ildefonso, a two-time league MVP and eight-time champion with San Miguel Beer, won five straight BPC awards from 2000 to 2001.

TNT's Jayson Castro now stands alone at second place behind the two SMB big men in the all-time list with four BPC awards.
