A police officer from Baguio has become famous because of his similar appearance to the fictional character ‘Cardo Dalisay’ from the ABS-CBN action series ‘Ang Probinsyano.’
Kapamilya action star, Coco Martin is currently portraying the popular character.
As reported by Mikaela Ilaw on the morning news show 'Umagang Kay Ganda', the police officer was identified as PO2 Ruben Sotelo.
Many on-lookers couldn't help but notice the resemblance between Officer Sotelo and Coco Martin - from his side-ways profile to his facial features.
Indeed, many netizens agree that the real life police officer could stand in for his TV counterpart.
Officer Sotelo has been a motorcycle patrolman for the Baguio City Police Traffic Management Branch for 6 years now. Even his police chief has taken to calling him “Cardo.”
Sotelo has said that he has a strong sense of duty, much like his fictional doppelganger, and grew up with a positive opinion of the police.
He admits he’s always dreamed of becoming a police officer because he grew up watching cop-shows like ‘Ang Probinsyano’ on TV.
“Simula pa nung bata ako talagang yun na ang pangarap ko. Lahat ng napapanood ko – maganda ang perception ko sa mga pulis,” Sotelo confessed.
Sotelo said he was a working student before entering a career of law enforcement – cleaning dishes and serving food at a restaurant.
Despite the fame his face has garnered, Sotelo says his duty is more important than the attention he gets from people.
