Joss Whedon"Loki Is Not in The Avengers 2" Confirmed
The Avengers 2 writer-director Joss Whedon revealed over the weekend that Loki, played by Tom Hiddleston in Thor and Marvel's The Avengers, will not be featured in the upcoming Marvel Phase Two sequel.
"Immitating what I did before is the surest way to do it not as well. Second of all, and Loki is not there to say those terrible things."
Tom Hiddleston does return in Thor: The Dark World, debuting in theaters this fall, but it isn't known why the villain does not make an appearance in The Avengers 2. The filmmaker also confirmed a story from April that he has finished the first draft of the sequel, and that the rest of the Marvel's The Avengers cast is returning.
"I've turned in a first draft, but the story is very set. Everybody's very much on board with the exact movie I'm trying to make which is what worked the first time."
It isn't clear when production will begin at this time, but it will likely start sometime next year, after Guardians of the Galaxy finishes shooting.
The Avengers 2 comes to theaters May 1st, 2015 and stars Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Mark Ruffalo. The film is directed by Joss Whedon.
